Selling property
by Zebedee • Mon 25 Jul 2011 22:02

Well, we've finally done it and on Thursday we sign the house over to its new English owners. We will, of course, highly recommend Pont Noir as the font of all things Creuse.
If anyone is interested, we are now fully informed in the selling of property as well as the purchase, so any questions we will happily answer for you!
Best wishes to all of you, oh, and we will be back!

I'm glad that all has gone well with your sale and I hope that you'll be able to return to the Creuse in the future.

How long did it take to sell and how close to the asking price did you get?

Well done on selling your house! And like Dave, gald to hear that you will be back! :egypt:

We are about to put our house on the market too - My main question for the moment would be: which did you find was the most successful way of marketing your property - through one or more agents or privately? Any drawbacks with either? And did you have to play the game of adding on to the price you actually want in order to be "knocked down" so the seller feels they are getting a good deal?

Thanks,
Michelle

Sorry for not replying sooner.
Dave - we put the house on the market at the end of August last year, but the immobilier explained that noone would really look until Easter as they want houses for the summer. This proved true! After a little interest only, in April, we had a few viewings and settled for close to the asking price (to a lovely new English family by the way!)

thewrights - we sold through Immobilier Creusois in Jarnages (Sandrine - used to work for Holt in Chenerailles and started up by herself) She speaks good English and was recommended by our Parisian neighbour! We only used one agent as we weren't in a hurry to sell, just testing the market really - worked out well! We didn't 'up' the price at all - just what it was worth, with the agent's fees added on.
Hope that helps
