French CRB Check or equivalent!
by Zebedee • Tue 21 Apr 2009 19:54
Hi I wonder if anyone can help.....

I am a teacher who lived in France for a year last year. I have now returned to UK, to my old school, and have been told I need a CRB check from France to ensure I can still work with children - in otherwords, stating I wasn't convicted of any crimes whilst in France.

Does anyone know a) if such a thing exists?
b) how I go about getting one if it does?
Many thanks

I found this link which seems to provide your answer.

Hope it is what you are looking for.

As Crusebear has listed the crb site explains the process very well...

From the link he gave click on the link to download the form, print it out, fill it in and send with a good copy of your passport.
On the form it asks Nombre d'extracts demandes.....in this box put how many you want.
It doesn't cost anything.
Send to 44317 Nantes cedex 3 (there are 2 addresses on the form depending on where you were born)

Mine took 2 weeks to be returned....whereas the UK crb check took 3 months!!!!!

It is much simpler than the UK

Thanks for this both of you!
I have tried the links and it says that the forms are obtained postally (if that's a word!) so I shall send off for one and go from there.
As an extra, the English CRB now want proof that I lived in my house BEFORE I moved to France too - even though it is the same address as I still live in (oh and I'm teaching in the same school that I was before I went too - with the same prior CRB.....)
And I thought France were the ones for beaurocracy!

I have not had a look at the link provided but there is a good chance that you will be after the 'Bulletin Numero 3' from the French 'Republique Francaise Ministere De La Justice'.

Its free to get, you just write to them asking for it and they post one to you in about a week.

I think I sent a photocopy of my passport and a copy of an EDF bill too but they said that they didnt need that.

Once you have it, the people in the UK will probably want it translating ... officially.

So, this can be done for about 35 euros from a French authorised translator.

If you are still in the process of trying to get it done, let me know and I will dig out the details for you.
