Using little peat plant pots
Has anyone any experience of using the little peat plant pots that are supposed to allow the plant's roots to come through and to eventually rot away when planted in the soil?
For the first time, I planted tomatoes, sweet corn, dwarf beans and runner beans in them and brought them over from England when we came at Easter. Then because we had a lot of problems with the ravages of the winter on the house, the garden didn't get rotavated and manured for three weeks and they had to sit in their pots.
Since planting out, the beans and corn haven't got significantly bigger and don't look very happy. Do you think they are pot-bound or just suffering from the effects of the move and not being planted straight away? I am a bit reluctant to dig them up to check. The tomatoes are fine.
