Nice potager there Dave - Are you planting this year?
I am always in awe of our neighbours' veg patches - they are immaculate. We are not in Creuse long enough to grow a crop but we hope that one day we will. In the meantime we have a side of the house covered with comfrey ('consoude' in French) It's a great soil improver and has the added benefit of keeping the weeds at bay - pretty blue flower spikes too (and unkillable - which is important with my dismal horticultural history)

Wow, Dave, what an immaculate veggie patch! Ours is much too big and we have only cleared it roughly to date. The rotovating will start soon. We have tried an experiment with covering part of it in black plastic agricultural sheeting during the winter, to see if it keeps the weeds down.

Now all we need is the energy, motivation and a bit warmer weather!
