Just seen lots of grue flying south, a little earlier than last year, does that mean a very cold winter?

We've seen a few grue too ( :woot: ) and I believe it is early for them. So, a cold winter ahead? A neighbour suggested it would be and someone's bunion must be aching at the Met Office because they're saying pretty much the same. But when were they ever right?

I've often been impressed with the accuracy of weather prediction by our farmer neighbors, and have also heard from several local folks that a cold winter is in store. When we leave we're scrupulous about draining down the plumbing, don't want to return in the spring to a Versailles-like fountain display.
