Advice on choosing a wood burner
by cmchsmjm • Sat 03 Aug 2019 10:17
We are hoping to the have the first of 2 wood burning stoves installed this year as the inset burner in the living room is rubbish and the open fireplace in the kitchen burns through wood too quickly.
My experience with wood burners is limited to the holiday homes we have rented over the years so I would welcome some advise as to which manufacturer to go with.
I was considering the Invicta Sedan 10 but have been reading some pretty poor reviews in terms of build quality and reliability. Our budget would be up to approx £1000 per stove (excluding installation).

There is a heating specialist near you in Bonnat called Prudhomme. They have a showroom with a good range to look at. We went for the Fanco Belge 'Gasgoigne 15' as it is the house's only heat source. Works well.

Thanks Creusebear but they seem to be beyond our £1000 budget :(

Thanks for the all the advice.
Using a couple of webs sites to calculate the required output of the stove based the size, layout etc it looks like we will need a stoves that can output 5.8kW of heat.
I have attached an illustration of the layout of the two rooms...any more advice would be fantastic :)
