Info please: we are bringing our dog down with us next week and will need a vet Jarnages - Gueret for the worming and certificate prior to return to UK. Last time we stopped in Normandy for a few nights and used a tame vet there, but not so this time.
PS, we use Newhaven-Dieppe, 4 hours and the dog stays in the car. Also just paid £182 for the crossing - Brittany were looking for £400+
There is a vet in Jarnages telephone 05 55 80 98 33. Just on the right as you leave Jarnages. OK for worming etc but certainly would not recommend them for any other treatment. They are a group practice and have a main office at Chenerailles and a satellite one at Châtelus Malvaleix.
We normally do the overnight from Portsmouth to Caen and our dog/s stay in the car no problem at all. We have done the overnight with the dog friendly cabin. They are great, you'll get you car put on the deck outside so it's just a short walk to the cabin. They even provided a dog bowl and treats in the cabin and there is a small outside area to take your dogs out. We take our dog/s to a practice in Bonnat and we have never had a problem with either the vet or the passport.
The dog friendly crossing is about £240 with your cabin Portsmouth Le Havre . We will get the night crossing so can offset an overnight stop , usually £40-£50. And it saves about 200 kilometres on the French side plus we avoide the m25 car park lol
