Crème fraîche
by Goose • Wed 20 Oct 2010 21:37

Since moving to Malta ten days ago I have searched several shops for crème fraîche but have not seen any anywhere.

Will either thick cream or whipping cream do as an alternative? I have used the real thing for so long I cannot think what to use instead.

Thanks,

Goose

I think if you add a little lemon juice to the ordinary cream, it will be more like creme fraiche. That works for soured cream too.
Hope you're settling in OK over there, Goose, we had our first hard frost last night, it's white over this morning.

Great to hear from you, Goose, we have been wondering what you are doing and if you are both OK.

Thanks for the suggestion, Lyn, I tried it this morning in a goats cheese and leek flan. Shall have to wait 'til tonight to see how it compares!
