Pont Noir Calendar 2009

For the first time ever Pont Noir has something that you can buy - our 2009 calendar. This features images of the Creuse to remind you of the wonderful department when you are away or to encourage you to visit more of it when you are there.

The calendar has a coil binding and the layout has large squares for each day with plenty of space to write in your appointments. It also features important dates and holidays for both France and the UK.

Each calendar is printed to order and shipped to you direct from lulu and costs €10 (or the equivalent in sterling) of which Pont Noir gets less than €1. Any profit will go to support the running of this site.

This sounds great - thanks, Dave. It will be really useful to have UK and French holidays etc in one place.

Mind you - is anyone else as fussy as me about calendar layouts?! I drive my OH mad trying to prise apart those that are shrink-wrapped to see where the weekends are. I like my layout to start with a Monday so that at the end of the line you have Sat and Sun together.

This has nothing whatever to do with political correctness or religious conviction about which is the 'first' day of the week - I simply find it much easier to plan when weekends are laid out this way, rather than with Saturday at one end of the line and Sunday at the other! I think I am quite a visual person. Or just easily confused. :?

Still, I'm prepared to take this one on unseen, for the pics and the info!

Fiona, you will be pleased to hear that the Pont Noir Calendar has Monday as the first day of the week, meaning that Saturday and Sunday are together at the end.

Incidentally, are the photos yours? Look forward to seeing it in the flesh, so to speak.

Yes, I took all the photographs (this helps to keep the costs down). I was pretty pleased with the result and I hope others will be too. I think it's a nice way to promote both Pont Noir and the beauty of the Creuse, as well as being useful.

Thanks. I'm glad you like it. Now all you have to do is work out where each of the pictures was taken.

Hi, I will order a couple of calendars as Christmas presents when I know where we will be for the next few weeks. However I was very interested to see that Dave has had them done by lulu as we thought it sounded a reputable operation and we put people onto it when they came to us with self-publishing ideas. So many firms who claim to help authors to self-publish are really just out to exploit them. It's not as bad as it was in the days of the blatant vanity press but it is still rather naughty. One acquaintance was charged £10,000 for 500 hardback books which he will never sell in a million years, even though the book was actually very good.

We should be coming to France again shortly, and I will recommence "Crazy about the Creuse" when we get there and I have access to some of my reference books.

Best wishes

Annik

I think that July is round the corner from the dam at Crozant and August at les Pierres Jaumâtres.

That's right, goose. I don't think that it is possible to guess all the locations but I think that you should be able to guess most months.

We've sold 22 calendars so far - still plenty of time to order yours before Christmas. Thanks to all those you brought one - your support is most appreciated and I hope that you enjoy the calendar (as well as finding it useful).
