I found it!
Found bicarb in Intermarché, Ahun in the Bouillon section, next to the salt.
In the cleaning section there was Cristaux de Soudre, which is not the same thing, don't use this for baking!

I have noticed in the supermarkets near me (Intermarché Ahun, Carrefour Aubusson) in the stock cube section you can find some bottles of what appear to be a sort of gravy browning. There is one called Viandox from Maggi and another called Arome Saveur from Knorr. They both say for adding colour and ...

I saw a flock of Grues flying over Aubusson today at 3pm.
Does this mean summer is well and truly over and some cold weather is on the way? Most probably. *sigh*
Ah well, Au revoir les grues, à la prochaine!

I registered myself at Pole Emploi when I first arrived in Creuse in 2008. At the time my French wasn't good enough for me to find a decent job, so I was given 300 hours of free French lessons in Lycee Jean Jaures in Aubusson. That's three hours every tuesday afternoon for about three years. You do ...

I think the vipers are more common around here than you might think, I have just encountered two in two days and last year my neighbour had four in her garden in one day! I meant to add earlier, if you're over here with children please make sure they are also aware of the dangers. Whether the snakes...

To those of you who don't already know, we share La Creuse with several kinds of snake. Here is a website that tells you about them and their habitats. While I was walking my dog in the woods around Masgot, near to Ahun on Monday, I saw an Asp Viper/Vipère Aspic . I was worried my dog would see it, ...

Greetings my fellow francophiles! I'm having a bit of a friendly disagreement with my boss. I work in a hotel and my directeur asked me to translate the menu into English for our English customers. Everything was fine until I came to the desserts. We have a crumble of quetsches and mirabelles, but w...

The rat poison didn't work?! What on earth have you got up there??
Perhaps it just needed a bit more time to work... I'll keep my fingers crossed for tonight for you.

I agree with previous suggestions, a gallery would be great.
Also, why when you try to upload a photo is it restricted to a small size? It makes it hard for those of us who don't know how to reduce the size of their pictures!

That's definately a slow worm, I had one in the garden last year, but one of the cats scared him off.
Shame, because they're lovely, gentle creatures and good for the garden too.
