Finally moving to France

by edmoraz • Fri 26 Feb 2016 09:36

We bought our holiday home in 2008 with a view to moving permanently to France once we retired. Have you tried the shrub and tree nursery in Gueret. It's on the Glenic road, there is also a good nursery on that road.

Bad news for me, it was always a full flight too. Who knows with Ryanair and their thirst for profit .

I read it that the Manchester route was an extra route. I hope they don't cancel Liverpool , it's a popular route and it's always full.

The oh informs me they will be ok in the greenhouse providing you can keep it above freezing. Can you not take them home with you and bring them back at Easter we often do this.

Re: Entry into the health system for early retirees

by edmoraz • Wed 19 Aug 2015 10:26

Thanks for that, the S1 seems to be the stumbling point, the French ask for one the DWP give you a letter to say they don't issue them anymore and then the French refuse your application. Then you go to appeal. Then the fun really begins ;(

I have been hearing that the French are not letting early retirees join the system , people are being refused. Has anyone had any experience of this. As the rules seem to state three months residency.

Re: Dog friendly cabins Portsmouth Le Havre

by edmoraz • Sun 02 Aug 2015 14:25

The dog friendly crossing is about £240 with your cabin Portsmouth Le Havre . We will get the night crossing so can offset an overnight stop , usually £40-£50. And it saves about 200 kilometres on the French side plus we avoide the m25 car park lol

Wouldn't the smoke alarm keep going off when you open the door to your wood burner? Or if you had an open fire?

We also have the second home phone and Internet package with orange that's about 50€ a month but you only pay when you activate it. We tend to use about 200€ worth of wood a year but we are building up a stock, our water is through the Marie and Is 59€ a year and we pay 34€ a month electricity. Hope...
