Visited the Camping le Presqu'ile at Broussas this morning 0555647898, and confirmed that if you want to take your boat on the lake on a daily basis then then is no requirement to register, as long as you remove the boat at the end of the day. There are several public slipways, the easiest one at Va...

I've to make a visit to the camping site at Broussas over the next few days, and I will ask on your behalf, as they do the berthing permits for the Lac de Vassiviere. When I change to a french driving licence, I found that I am required to have a medical in 2014 and every 4 years thereafter to maint...

As the lake is in Indre, I cannpt say for local bylaws. You might like to check with the local tourist office for regulations, the site for which is easily found in google, or the club de voile Chateauroux-Eguzon. I can only answer for the lac de Vassiviere. As for most things towed, insurance is a ...

When we purchased our house here, which is of course our maison principal, we assumed a European will of Tontine (I believe it is called Tutelle in France).
It cost like most things.

Whilst both these products are good, they rely on the web host to support PHP and other software to allow full performance. Orange basic level of service (which is free) does not, so is limiting, whereas the professional level does, but obvious costs more. It's what you need balanced with what you w...

Politics is a dirty word, but ultimately someone has got to do it. However it is a wonder that anything gets done, either here or in the UK. I will only give my personal opinion in the following passages, but if you do not agree, please accept that. However I will be trying to be unbiased politicall...

Looks fun doesn't it? But they are 1000 feet apart. For Heathrow there are four "stacks" Ockham, Bovingdon, Lambourne and Biggin where up to 7 aircraft are "held" in holding patterns in each stack, big ovals in the sky, from about 13000 feet. The Heathrow approach controllers then coordinate their a...

Having done what I suggested and chopped the lot off, I was unsure as nothing happened for weeks, now there are shoots all over the bamboo patch that have grown 20 cms in a week. Amazing plant.

Anne bought some and they were not very good. You have to keep them wet enough for the roots to penetrate, at risk of making them so wet they rot.

There once was a man from Tralee,
who was stung on the neck by a wasp.
When asked "does it hurt?"
He replied "Not a bit,
It can do it again if it likes!"
OK so it was the 12th May, but one website I looked at today said it was today. DOH!

A useful tool, but the french tax rules specify the use of the Banque de France rates. The yahoo rate is a commercial rate as is the one I tend to follow on a desktop gadget from MSN, and they tend to differ by as much as a cent, albeit most times by the fourth decimal place for most of the time.

If you go to the Banque de France web site, and look for taux de change. It may require a little calculation as the tables list the monthly means, and you then need to add them together and divide by 12.
A bit tedious I'm afraid.

I had the most miniscule of ticks (less than 3mm) attach itself to the inside of my thigh, so small that I hadn't seen it until it was too late. I pulled it off, but after 24 hours I began to see a significant 2 cm red ring around the central site of the original bite. Worse still, was that the lymp...

Simply dial 3646 and you will be in touch with the CPAM. The Web address is for CPAM - ameli.fr and is for all. Once registered you will be sent the password to access which you change on first going in. To wait 2 years for Carte Vitale is unacceptable. More than a month is really, as our arrived in...

The mean Taux de change for last year according to the Banque de France was 0.8678 , the figure that is generally accepted by the Bureau des impots for les etrangers. So muliply all your livres by that, to work out how many euros you need to declare on your 2047, and the 2042. Alternatively you may...

I would recommend first of all registering with ameli.fr, so you can follow all your healthcare activities, and also your mutuelle, if they have an online site. CPAM do make errors, and did omit my wife as having a medicin traitant, despite a declaration. They corrected the error, and we have not ha...
