Where to watch le Tour

by amandaandclint • Wed 09 Jul 2008 12:41

...of the two, would people pick Jarnages or Chatelus Malvaleix to watch the bikes tomorrow as we are in te middle of the two? I think Chatelus would be better for the speed trials etc but Jarnages is a better equipped place for food and drinks etc. Just wondered if anyone had a good reason to choos...

Re: Would you be interested?

by amandaandclint • Wed 02 Jul 2008 08:08

Yep, good idea. Would help a lot of people to take the first few steps to meeting neighbours and help with new venturesand with paperwork etc. But with your tax, cotisations and the cost of fuel & transport, it would all come down to price. If you drove half an hour each way plus your hourly rate ju...

Re: Euro 2008-where are you watching it?

by amandaandclint • Tue 17 Jun 2008 09:35

Hi Edmoraz I've been catching the odd match when I can and so far there have been a few good matches and some big suprises too. (.... what is Greece doing ?....) There are a few local bars nearby that are showing the games but its just so much easier to watch them in the comfort of your own home. I ...

Re: tyres

by amandaandclint • Fri 06 Jun 2008 21:51

I got 2 goodyear tyres for my 4x4 in the uk in Jan 08 and they cost £168 (and that was after shopping around and haggling). The 2 I got in May from Gueret were the same spec and make and cost me 193 euros.... and this was without haggling (as my french isnt that good yet  Cant remember the nam...

Re: Gas cooker

by amandaandclint • Mon 26 May 2008 20:27

For montlucon, head down the n145 and just keep following the signs for Montlucon. If you have been to the brico depot, you will know of the roundabout at montlucon where you take the third exit... just take the 2nd exit and head into montlucon. After 5 mins you will see Macdonalds, and a huge super...

Re: Computer poblems

by amandaandclint • Mon 26 May 2008 20:20

There is a place in Boussac (across the road from Century 21). They are very good and we have taken both our computers into them... and compaired to other places in Gueret and Montlucon, they offer very good value for money. Also, they do speak english (which is helpful when trying to explain what t...

Re: New to Creuse

by amandaandclint • Sun 25 May 2008 18:33

Hi I would simply recommend driving around exploring... as much as there are lots of events on throughout the year, it is sometimes best to see if you like the area without the fairs and events etc (hope that makes sense :D ) Im sure you will have a great time over here and if you need any info, we ...

Hi Alldown

Thats removing a match though, not moving...

Re: Buying wood for your wood burner

by amandaandclint • Sat 24 May 2008 08:00

Like Annik said... ...just ask you neighbour or local farmer. We have used a few suppliers and all the cords we have got have been slightly larger than 4 m2. I doubt you will find a chap that will sell you one brand/type of wood so dont worry too much about asking for any particular type  Good...

Re: Puzzle

2 matches again.

Just move the 2nd 'I' and the 4th 'I' to the outside.

My first answer seemed the most obvious to me though :D

I bet you are now going to tell me there is a 'One Matchstick' answer

Re: Puzzle

by amandaandclint • Fri 23 May 2008 21:29

Hi Tom XI+II=IX its Roman numerals so, its: 11 + 2 = 9 (13 = 9) so if you move the 2 from the left to the right you can make it equal as 11=11. So, the vertical match of the + is moved to become horizontal and make a =. and a vertical match from the = on the right is moved to become horizontal and b...

Re: I'm in the 98%!

by amandaandclint • Wed 21 May 2008 18:37

Red spanner so within the 2% for me too. I heard of a few similar tests whilst at Uni. They say that if you are in the 2% you are more hands-on and arty... which makes sense for me as I did graphic design. Also, they say that left handed people are more likely to be within the 2% but Im a 'righty' s...

Hi Ourdeaux We have a chambre d'hotes /table d'hotes too and often catered for our guests specific dietary requirements.
