radio reception

by dissid32 • Thu 05 Jul 2012 22:12

Is there something going on with the radio reception at the moment - sunspots or something? My radios seem to be very sensative to where I am in relation to them. Also my mobile phone (Leclerc/SFR)seems to be out of service, but that may have nothing to do with it.

Re: New Law 01.07.2012 - Breathalyser

by dissid32 • Mon 02 Jul 2012 09:16

I notice, Dave, that you included a fire extinguisher as a requirement. Then I seemed to remember something about spare bulbs and first-aid kits, so I looked at various sites to see if I could find a definitive list of legal requirements, but there seemed to be variations between one site and anothe...

I got a couple in Leclerc, Gueret. I seem to remember 95 centimes each, but I could be wrong.

Re: Kindle

by dissid32 • Sun 17 Jun 2012 14:09

Thanks the Daves. That answers my questions, I think. Calibre seems pretty amazing, particularly as it's free. My main question at the moment is how does one connect the PC to the device, but maybe that will become obvious when I download it. I think six months ago I would have been as Luddite as yo...

Kindle

by dissid32 • Sun 17 Jun 2012 09:45

This query isn't really specific to the Creuse, but I can't think where else to put it. I have been thinking of buying a Kindle, but I have noticed on the Amazon site that quite a lot of books are marked as being unavailable outside the UK. Does it make any difference where one buys the Kindle? And ...

Re: Wisteria seeds

by dissid32 • Sat 26 May 2012 13:36

I've just discovered several seedlings in the borders, which obviously seeded themselves, so maybe the answer is to treat them roughly. They are spread over quite a wide area, so I guess when the pods explode they project the seeds a fair distance. Now I have to decide whether to pull them up, or le...

Tax Return again again

by dissid32 • Wed 23 May 2012 19:11

Does anybody know whether when teledeclaring, if the only change is a small change in income, one need only fill in form 2042, or does one still have to fill in forms 2047 and 3916 ? When I tried to do all three forms it wouldn't let me do it, because it said I had to cocher la case 8UU, but I could...

Re: Ikea Clermont Ferrand

by dissid32 • Wed 25 Apr 2012 10:28

Regarding Virtdave's comment about picture frames, one can also get cheap frames at Gifi, of which there is one in Gueret and one in Montlucon that I know of, and I imagine in a lot of bigish towns. Briconautes also have frames, some fairly reasonably priced.

Yes, it soon adds up, doesn't it? You seem to be a bit stuck, really. You have my sympathy, but I can't think of any practical solution, I'm afraid.

Re: Gardeing Help

by dissid32 • Sat 21 Apr 2012 11:35

Just to add my twopennyworth. It seems to me that, to a certain extent it may depend on what you think of as reasonably priced. A frenchman local to me charges 15€/hour. An englishman local to me charges 12,50€/hour on the cheque emploi scheme, so I imgine that the employer (you) would end up paying...

Re: Electronics Components Sources - Limoges/Gueret

by dissid32 • Thu 19 Apr 2012 10:18

You could try www.lcsmultimedia.net . They are based near Guéret. I think they mostly deal in computers and satellite TV, but Dave is very helpful and I'm sure that even if he couldn't supply you with what you want himself, he could point you to someone who could. It's worth a try anyway. You could ...

Snake eats lizard's tail

by dissid32 • Thu 29 Mar 2012 18:47

While quietly having a cup of tea and enjoying the sun, I became aware of a minor scuffle on the ground near where I was sitting. I thought at first it was a couple of lizards either fighting or copulating. I've never been able to decide what it is they are doing. However, when they separated there ...

Ayeee! Success.

Re: When does the season for burning end?

by dissid32 • Sun 25 Mar 2012 09:36

Looks as though you'll be ok for a few more days, but be careful about keeping control of the fire in this dry weather. I thought I'd just burn a few sticks one year, but the fire got into the underthatch of the grass in the field where I was having the fire and it just spread like crazy. Quite worr...
