Thank you for sharing all that with us. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Very sad for you. I hope you have a good journey when you come, and a happy stay. I trust the weather will have improved by then.

Only 7 votes so far, so not very conclusive. I have thought about using it, but have never found out how I can. I get sent a little booklet every year about the buses, but I'm not sure if that is just for school children, or for the general publiic. I have never actually seen a bus(I don't think). A...

There is an article in this month's (February)Creuse News about knitting for charity, which I thought might interest some Pont Noirers who don't read Creuse News. There is also quite an interesting web site about it. Link below:-

Does anyone have experience of the BNP internet banking. I have an account with BNP and I'm wondering whether to change to the internet account. Any comments anyone?

Looks wonderful on the 'ordi'. Pity it's so far away. Four hours from me, according to Michelin, which would make it quite a long day out. Still, nothing ventured nothing gained, as they say. Maybe one day!

Thanks, Dave. I think probably I'll have to consult an electrician, as you suggest. I haven't actually got the cooker yet. It's coming from Cdiscount and we haven't been able to fix a delivery date yet.

Thank you, RobertArthur. As a matter of fact, I had already read the earlier discussion, but they didn't really seem to answer my question. Also, I didn't really understand the significance of "over there" in "still a three-phase installation electrique over there?" Are there places where there isn'...

I am in the process of getting a new gas cooker, which will need a power supply to run the ignition and oven light. There is a three phase socket, which was probably used to run an electric oven some years ago, although the actual socket is a relatively new one, put in by the electrician when I had ...

I had a look at what it says on an ordinary can of fly/insect spray, and it claims to kill cockroaches, so maybe it would kill bedbugs. Have you tried it? Another suggestion is: ask at the pharmacy. You can't be an isolated case, I wouldn't have thought, so what do french people do about them. Punai...

France Passion sounds lovely at first skim through. And free!!! Then I started to think: when I used to go camping in a Toyota equivalent of a VW what I looked for in a camp site were loos, showers, washing-up place, possibly electricity, drinking water etc. All of these appear to be excluded from F...

I think that probably ihusker has covered the ground pretty thoroughly. Being a bona fide Carte Vitale holder I'm not au fait with your situation and can't really comment, and I don't understand between what and what the top-up insurance pays and what the EHIC pays, so I'll say no more.

Thanks, Dave. That's put my mind at rest a bit. Bit of a cheek really - charging you for not doing something, but I guess it can't be helped. They did try to visit a couple of times two or three years ago, but both times I was in the UK, purely by chance.

I believe that the end of this year is the deadline for having one's sanitation, fosse septique, inspected. Does anyone know what happens if one doesn't have it done by then? Also, in the case that one's system doesn't meet the requirements, which I'm sure mine won't, what happens if one can't affor...
