Last year they were selling them at an outlet on the round-about near Carrefour and bricomarche in Gueret - not sure if they will be this year.

Re: House Insurance

by Maria2009 • Mon 22 Nov 2010 19:00

Strictly speaking if you do not have a mortgage on the house it is NOT a legal requirement when purchasing. Our estate agent tried to get us to take it out - saying we had to - but when I challanged him he admitted he was wrong. Saying that though, it is wise to have... if for example a tile blows o...

Re: Cost of Vaccinations etc

by Maria2009 • Sat 20 Nov 2010 15:55

Thanks all - have now had them all done - 2 cats and 1 dog. All in all with a microchip for one of the cats, passports for all, rabies for all, boosters on other vacs for all and blood test came to around 300 euros. Not that bad I guess.

by Maria2009 • Mon 15 Nov 2010 15:11

Hi, does anyone have any idea of the cost (ball park figure) for getting cats and dogs rabies jab, blood tests etc to enable them to return to the UK?

Re: Petrol shortages?

by Maria2009 • Sun 17 Oct 2010 22:06

Seems to be getting worse. I have been told that Gueret is out, as well as our locals in Benevant L'Abbaye and Grand Bourg. Filled up in La Souterraine this evening (was nearly on empty) at the Avia station - quite a queue - but both E Leclercq and Carrafoure Marche stations were closed. How long do...

Re: Mother and toddler group (near Benevent L'Abbaye)

by Maria2009 • Sun 19 Sep 2010 20:37

Unfortunately my children are too old - so don't have any experience of any groups locally. I do however think it is a great idea! There does seem to be a slight gap for things to do for mums with young children around here. I also think the idea of setting one up yourself is good - best of luck wit...

Re: The English public

by Maria2009 • Mon 13 Sep 2010 08:32

Without adding fuel to the flames (well trying not to).. it sometimes helps to be able to 'vent' on here - I often find that having a bit of a rant calms me down. Having said that... I also, often find, that those who accuse others of being narrow minded are often too blinkered (or dare I say narrow...

Re: Plastering

by Maria2009 • Thu 09 Sep 2010 18:58

I'm not looking for a plasterer - I can do plastering myself... just never used French plaster and wondered what the difference was (one person I have spoken to - a professional plaster - says it is a nightmare!)

Hence me trying to find a supplier of English plaster :)

Plastering

by Maria2009 • Thu 09 Sep 2010 13:17

Does anyone know the difference between French and English plaster?

Also does anyone know where I might be able to buy English Multi Purpose plaster in the Creuse (or nearby)?

Thanks

Re: Have I lost my touch?

I don't think it's you... I have a beagle and they are incredibly hard to train. We daren't leave shoes or anything lying around as they get eaten. Our garden nows looks like a high security prison yard as he can be something of an escape artist. When being taking for a walk he will sometimes get it...

Re: Getting to Limoges Airport

by Maria2009 • Fri 23 Jul 2010 13:29

There is a train from La Souterraine (which may have a connection to Bourganeuf) that goes to Limoges and then there is a shuttle bus to the airport from outside the trainstation.

Re: Fishing (or Angling)

I believe the plan d'eau in the commune where I live - Vieilleville - does daily fishing passes and is about 20 minuntes drive away from yourself. We do get quite a few fisherman at the lake, but can't say I have seen them catch anything! I think they can be obtained from the shop (small grocery sho...
