Re: New Rubbish and Recycling Bins

by kenwildon • Thu 16 Nov 2017 11:47

Our new bins arrived about 6 weeks ago. There will be a charge (from 2019 as I understand it) for each time the lorry 'lifts' your waste bin but no charge for recycling bin. Our hamlet will also have a communal larger bin which you will use your plastic card to open for any other excess waste. Also ...

For those who haven't retried the Rouen route in the last couple of years I can still highly recommend it. With all the road improvements it just keeps getting faster and faster, and strangely enough a little shorter too. Journey time (Calais to Chatelus-Malvaleix) is now just 25 minutes more than t...

Re: New all you can eat Chinese Gueret

by kenwildon • Tue 15 Mar 2016 09:23

We can recommend the new Royal Wok in Gueret. All you can eat and all you can drink for 16 euros at lunchtime. Goes up a bit in the evening. Good variety of self-selection food including sushi and a chef who will cook your chosen steak etc. just the way you want it. Been there about 3 or 4 times now...

Yup. The route is now fully reopened but, if like me, you've found the route along the river bank to be more pleasant, then there's only a few minutes difference.

Just follow your normal route then when you get to the diversion signs simply follow them. Honest.
Oh. And it will certainly help if you turn off your satnav and any other extraneous interuptions!

Bon voyage

Re: Travelling to the Creuse

We went Rouen way over Easter. The route south was reasonably well signposted in Rouen following the river until you reach Ikea then onto the A13. Quite easy if time consuming. On the way back the diversion, which was well marked all of the way, started before Rouen and simply had you following the ...

Re: Travelling to the Creuse

It is now nearly the middle of March and the Euroferries website has nothing more than a holding statement on it. Clearly it has not commenced in February 2013 as was advertised. A route to Boulogne again would be great, but not holding my breath to wait for it! Advice in the last few days is that ...

Press release 18th Oct 2012 Euroferries announces the launch of it’s 2013 express cross channel service between Ramsgate and Boulogne to commence in February 2013. I know there has been some speculation in the past about the Ramsgate route. Hopefully, a new operator will provide more competition. T...

Just in case anyone needed reminding!

Re: Another Creuse Publication

Creuse News is an excellent publication and fairly widely distributed through Tourist info offices and Leclerc in Gueuret and elsewhere. And it's free. Obviously funded by regular local advertisers with goods and services to offer. The other good news is that it's also available online at www.creuse...

My daughter put me on to the idea of taking out a tesco credit card. Even so the next time we ...

I know many people cringe at the thought of the Paris Peripherique but, touch wood, we've only been held up a couple of times, and then for much less than an hour. Our journey time from Calais to Chatelus Malvaleix is around 6 to 6.5 hours including a lunch break. As long as you're not travelling on...
