There's a marvellous book called 'La Maison Rurale en Haute-Marche' available from Éditions Créer which I bought the other day.

You can get a taste of it here:

I also do the Dieppe-Rouen-Chartres-Orleans-Verizon route every time, but then I'm near La Souterraine. I feel like now I know Les Arses from my Elboeuf....

Annik,

What a wonderful overview of the Creuse castles! I shall be referring to this a lot in the future I imagine. Thanks so much.

@CreuseBear: Ah yes, that'll be my eBay habit.I regret pulling the wiring out of the arms before dragging a bit of string through whilst cleaning. I'm now having a hell of a job poking anything back!!

Dave, Apparently, they are adding to their staff. He is still a 'valued part of their team'. I feel I do have a very good perspective and I'm slightly nonplussed that you're uncomfortable. I take your point about enjoying my life rather than making his miserable. Yet until I'm completely satisfied t...

Been a while now....

by Sheriffof0 • Wed 09 Mar 2011 12:12

... since I posted anything. Sorry about that. The massive problems caused to me by the collapse of MyLimousin left a very sour taste in my mouth and very nearly ruined all my hard won plans. To be honest, I'm only just getting back my enthusiasm for the renovation project and the prospect of (at so...

Re: :: Barbe Bleue (2009) "Bluebeard"

by Sheriffof0 • Tue 03 Aug 2010 08:24

Annik, Ask your friend.... The cast of the film Barbe Bleue may be the ones who stayed at his chambre d'hote. I saw an article about that somewhere too. He's a painter, right? There seem to be many 'chateau' which have somehow come by the Blue Beard name - I guess that's the legacy of fairy tales. B...

Barbe Bleue (2009) "Bluebeard"

by Sheriffof0 • Mon 02 Aug 2010 17:42

Watched a rather strange film last night.... It's called Barbe Bleue and was filmed on location in the Limousin, chiefly at Chateau de Villemonteix near Ahun, I believe. It's a little unsettling in style and content but worth the watch if it comes your way. The local settings are beautifully shot......

Re: :: A dish served lukewarm

Thanks Moses. Sage advice. In truth, I have quite given up hope of any financial recompense from this. Matters are ongoing (as far as I know) with the Mandatat Judiciare in Limoges and he has communicated to me already the great unlikelihood of any return. Similarly, there seems little hope of any l...

Mike,

Thanks for the message of sympathy. Think he may be Shepton Mallet, Somerset area.

Just in case he starts up in business again it's important that people know his track record.

I'm determined not to allow him to walk away from all this without a care.

Cheers.

Yesterday, it came to my attention when I was trawling through the mass of emails from MyLimousin that I was asked for a further tranche of money on 07.01.09. Mercifully, I had no intention of paying anything further (even though I was not appraised of any difficulties until months later). When I ch...
