We are managing to keep artichokes, lettuce, beetroot and chard going. We have cherries, strawberries and currants of all colours. Our place is a holiday home but these seem to do ok with little care. We have to be lucky to enjoy any of the fruit but the birds love them and it is fun to grow it anyw...

Hi Susan We used the La Coterie Tel No. 0555808330 team to rewire our house. It is a 2 bedroom house. The total cost was 5000 euros. We were very pleased with the work which was done whilst we were in the UK. We have used them for a number of projects now and would definately recommend them. They ha...

Re: Fosse Septique - its management?

by Sevy • Thu 26 Apr 2012 20:03

Hi Beetle

Our neighbour suggested putting a load of salt down the toilet when you lock up for the winter to stop the water freezing. If you drain the U Bend you will end up with an awfull smell in the house!

Re: What will you or do you miss most about UK

by Sevy • Thu 08 Mar 2012 18:10

For those who miss spicy food there is a great little Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant in Aubusson called La Rizière at 59 Grande Rue. For those who like food with chilli she serves a small amount of fresh chilli to add as you like. The food is freshly cooked in front of you as you enter the restaurant...

Hi
Decided to take pot luck once with a dish called "Riz de veau" It turned out to be sweetbreads!! Quite delicious if you can divert you mind from thoughts of eating glands. A bit of a shock if you are expecting veal with rice.

Re: Sewing Machine Servicing

by Sevy • Wed 29 Feb 2012 18:27

Hi
There is a chap that sells new and reconditioned sewing machines on Felletin market. I am sure he does repairs/service. It is on a Friday morning. However he may not be there every week. The market is well worth a visit anyway as it is the best one around.

Hi La Petite
You can't go wrong with Farrow and Ball paint, great range of colours and finishes. It stands up well to the extremes in temperature in France.
If you are still mainly based in the UK take it over with you. Otherwise check out the Farrow and Ball website for stockists in France.

Re: Who owns the land

Thanks for the feedback. I will go to the Mairie and ask who the parcel belongs to. It is only a small piece of land, totaly overgrown and full of boulders. It would be interesting to find out who it belongs to. It may even belong to the lady who sold us the house and she may be unaware that she sti...

Who owns the land

by Sevy • Tue 24 May 2011 18:11

Recently I have been looking through the sale details and discovered on a document supplied by the vendor another parcel number. Does anyone kn...

Re: SEWING MACHINE

by Sevy • Sat 26 Mar 2011 10:08

Jumac
I have seen a chap on Felletin Market (Friday Mornings) who sells new and reconditioned sewing machines. He may be able to service your machine.
I am not sure if he is there every week but I have seen him quite a few times. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link virtdave. I also live close to the crash site. I often see and hear the fighter jets I think they use the Creuse as a training area, maybe not so much now!!. Did the plane crash into houses or into a field?
