Live Life in Creuse

Re: Do you have an interest on Astronomy ?

by jeanpierre • Fri 18 Jan 2013 10:36

It appears difficult to get people interested in anything at all in the Creuse. Its strange as the surrounding departments seem far more "alive". That is rather (but not always) true, Jeanne. I think you could open a new "topic" about this point of vue, which would be really interesting to discuss!

Re: Do you have an interest on Astronomy ?

No astronomical Club is still alive in Creuse for years.
So, some of us want to create one.
We’ll meet on Friday, February 8th at 9pm, in the office of MMA (an insurance agent), 26 Avenue Gambetta, 23000 Guéret.
If you are concerned you are welcome.
Regards.

Do you have an interest on Astronomy ?

by jeanpierre • Wed 05 Sep 2012 21:48

Ten years ago, there was a club of astronomy in Creuse, but it has almost disappeared, when its leader left the area. Here and there in Creuse are people interested in astronomy, some owning good telescopes (up to 16”). Knowing I’m concerned by this activity, someone told me he would probably be vol...

Re: French new films subtitled in English, in Guéret ?

by jeanpierre • Tue 24 Jan 2012 19:48

Hi I feel my idea has no consensus! Here are my ideas. The criteria would be: - French Films , because we are in France! - With a wide success , to a large variety of people, sensibility and ages, - Recent , - Subtitled in English , more than English soundtrack, because it let hear the French versio...

French new films subtitled in English, in Guéret ?

by jeanpierre • Thu 19 Jan 2012 20:10

The cinema Sénéchal, in Guéret, can show French new films subtitled in English, on request. Or French new films spoken in English, but I’m not sure it is the best choice. I thought of “Intouchables”, which is very good, and seen by so many people in France. So I’ve just asked the manager of the cine...

About the lack of French people in ALEC...

by jeanpierre • Tue 03 Jan 2012 09:52

I’m French and I’ve been member of ALEC from the beginning to now. I’m happy to help the integration of “Expats” in Creuse. I think their (your!) presence here is positive if they don’t stay apart. French people are below 10% of members of ALEC. It is the same ratio at St Jean Library in La Souterra...

I wish them the best, and long life to "The Bugle".

Re: Rail Services in La Creuse

by jeanpierre • Sat 23 Jan 2010 10:47

In many cases, the web site www.bahn.de is better than the sncf site. - It includes different transport companies (and not only train and sncf bus). But not planes. - It gives you the ability to know every intermediate stops (very useful). - You can find much more travels suggestions for the same tr...

Re: Labyrinthe Géant in Guéret

by jeanpierre • Wed 20 Aug 2008 22:14

Hi Goose, I just want to explain the idea of this Giant Maze. The "Labyrinthe" has been created by a small christian group (but out of any church). The aim was to give work to people who can't have a constant job, such as gypsies. This background is rather unknown, and it can't be guessed by the vis...

Re: Marmite

by jeanpierre • Fri 20 Jun 2008 17:59

Hi all repliers!

Thank you to all!
And thank you specially to "Bussiere-Jan". Are you our Father Christmas?
Don't be afraid, Dave : our guests will spread the Marmite very thinly... if they have the courage to taste it, which is not absolutely sure.

Re: Marmite

Thank you Thewrights for your quick reply !

But in Carrefour Guéret, I found no Marmite today, in the foreign food shelf... Perhaps do they have Marmite for sale from time to time...

Kind regards :

Hi,

Here is the answer :

Hi Davea,

1/ You can simply write "Pas de Pub SVP !!"
2/ You can get a standard sticker here. You will stick it on your mailbox. This sticker is often available in "mairies".
3/ You have some other and funny drawings here.

Re: Christmas in the Creuse - any hints and tips?

by jeanpierre • Sat 13 Oct 2007 21:38

Hi Fiona, 1/ You will find supermarkets open in Guéret on Sunday 23rd, because many people buy gifts. So the French government allows the supermarkets to open this very day. 2/ An idea... Our charity, the Association Le Puy Batard welcomes a group of friends with physical disabilities, and helpers. ...

Re: How Quickly Does Your Year Pass ?

by jeanpierre • Wed 02 May 2007 18:37

I'm happy to join my ideas to your exchange. Here in Creuse, we enjoy to avoid traffic jams and other disturbances. In addition, many old people living here have a quiet pace. (The Creuse department is the area in Europe where is the highest percentage of people above 65). However, we, "working peop...

Re: Cinema ?

by jeanpierre • Mon 27 Nov 2006 17:31

Jean Pierre, do you know if films will have French subtitles? That would make classic films of interest outside of the English speaking community perhaps. Thanks Dave for your suggestion. In fact, I think that most of these major films are fully translated to french. But I would like to listen to E...
